The Commissioner of the Royal Bahamas Police Force wishes to advise the general public, that as of Sunday 8th September, 2019, officers have located and recovered forty-five (45) deceased persons from the hurricane affected areas, thirty-seven (37) from the island of Abaco and eight (8) from Grand Bahama.
We anticipate the discovery of more deceased persons, as the process of search and recovery progresses.

On behalf of the Council of Ministers, Participating States and Coordinating Unit of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency, I wish to express sincerest sympathy and condolences to those families who have lost loved ones as a result of Hurricane Dorian’s Impact. We also wish to express our empathy with the entire nation of the Bahamas and more in particular the people, residents and operators of businesses on the family islands of Abaco and Grand Bahama who have been displaced as a result of this recent catastrophe.
