EOC Training in Anguilla
In August 2025, the CDEMA Regional Training Centre (RTC), in collaboration with the Anguilla Department of Disaster Management (DDM), and with support from Global Support Development (GSD) convened training in Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) Management at the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC), Parliamentary Drive, The Valley, Anguilla. Eighteen participants from the DDM and a range of public and private sector agencies, who form the operations group of the Anguilla NEOC, benefitted from the three-day course held on 20th – 22nd August 2025.
Through lectures and practical scenario-based exercises the participants explored the principles of effective EOC management in a multi-hazard, multi-stakeholder context. The course culminated in a final capstone exercise in which the participants applied all that was covered in the training to a realistic scenario of cascading and compounding hazard impacts. The training was lead by an experienced team of instructors: Ms. Michelle Forbes, Director of NEMO, St. Vincent and the Grenadines; Mr. Sherrod James, Director of NODS, Antigua and Barbuda, Ms. Susan Hodge, Director of DDM, Anguilla and Mr. Rasheed Holder, Programme Officer, CDEMA Coordinating Unit.
This was the pilot offering of the newly upgraded CDEMA Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) Management. Through support from GSD the course has received a comprehensive overhaul over the past 18 months, to ensure that the training is aligned with current thinking and professional standards and will be responsive to dynamic and changing hazard landscape of the Caribbean.
