This short course will strengthen participants’ general knowledge about the protection of children during times of crisis and allow reflection about the impact of emergencies and disasters on children’s well-being and survival.
The session will also identify possible interventions to mitigate and respond to Child Protection risks.

Course Objectives/Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, learners/you will be able to:
- Improve general knowledge about Child Protection in Emergencies, including response principles and framework.
- Describe the impact of emergencies on children.
- Recognize the importance of Child Protection integration in other humanitarian sectors, with special focus in Education in Emergencies.
Primary Audience
Members of national emergency/disaster response systems in CDEMA Participant States including agencies responsible for child protection, Community Based Organisations and Non-Governmental Organisations.

No prior knowledge, training or experience required.

Course Length:
Approximately five (5) hours of contact time, comprising:
- Two (2) interactive sessions on Zoom, each 2 – 2.5 hours long.
- Pre-reading and other supplemental materials requiring 30 minutes – 1 hour of reading.
The trainer may also give participants an optional exercise to complete between sessions.
