Bridgetown, Barbados October 27th, 2020 (CDEMA) – The CDEMA Regional Training Centre (RTC) in collaboration with UNICEF concluded a series of short online courses in ‘Child Protection in Emergencies’, ‘Education in Emergencies’ and ‘Shock Responsive Social Protection’. The courses were offered between October 14 and 22, 2020 with participants from across the national disaster management mechanisms in CDEMA’s Participating States.
Bridgetown, Barbados August 21st, 2020 – Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has officially been handed over to Barbados, funded by a US$3 million donation from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB). On August 19, 2020, the official ceremony took place in conjunction with Department of Emergency Management (DEM). As of August 18, 2020, 24 active cases were on the island thus making the handover timely to the COVID-19 response.
Bridgetown, Barbados August 14th, 2020 (CDEMA) - On August 14, the United States Government in partnership with the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) launched a new USD $4.5 million initiative entitled “Caribbean Climate Resilience Initiative.” This new initiative will help countries reduce disaster risks as well as absorb and recover from hazard impacts and climate variability.
