Bridgetown, Barbados, Friday 30th, 2015 (CDEMA) - Senior officials from the National Coordination Centre for Disaster Management (NCCR) in Suriname completed, today, a three day orientation programme on the CDEMA System at the Regional Disaster Training Centre and Headquarters of the Coordinating Unit (CU) at Lower Estate, Barbados.
Bridgetown, Barbados, October 7th, 2015 (CDEMA) - CDEMA Executive Director Ronald Jackson arrives in Nassau Bahamas today, October 7th, 2015. Upon arrival, Mr. Jackson will be meeting with the Right Honourable Perry Christie, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas, followed by a briefing on the status of operations at the NEMA Emergency Operations Centre. The Executive Director is joined on mission by Mr. Bruno Pouezat, Jamaica’s United Nations Resident Coordinator a.i./ United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative a.i. and Mr. Ian King, Programme Manager-Disaster and Climate Risk Management, UNDP Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean. His day’s schedule ends with consultations with the UNDP team on the identification of short and long term priorities for Recovery and Reconstruction and the re-engagement of development partners.
Bridgetown, Barbados, October 6th, 2015 (CDEMA) – The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency continues to provide support to the Commonwealth of Dominica in its recovery efforts following Tropical Storm Erika which battered the Island on August 27th 2015. At the request of the Dominican Government, CDEMA deployed a technical team from the CDEMA Coordinating Unit and its Participating States of Saint Lucia and Trinidad and Tobago to provide support to the Office of Disaster Management (ODM) and to enhance the logistics and relief management activities.
