The first meeting of Sector Leads was convened on 21st April 2008. The overall function of the CDM Sector Lead is to provide overall leadership and guidance in the mainstreaming , coordination and harmonization of CDM implementation at the sector level.

The Twenty-Ninth Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (Agriculture) convened on October 9, 2008 in St. Vincent & the Grenadines noted the efforts to maximize efficiencies in advancing DRM in the Agriculture Sector through the integration of the Jagdeo Initiative constraint of inadequate risk mitigation and the CDERA-led Comprehensive Disaster Management Strategy (CDM). The official name of the Committee is the Agriculture Disaster Risk Management Committee (ASSC/TMAC).

Given that the role and functions of the Tourism Sector Sub-Committee (TSSC) of CDMEA and the Sustainable Tourism Technical Committee (STTC) of CTO are to provide technical guidance and input in work programming to promote sustainable development for the tourism sector, and given that there is overlap in membership of the two committees (TSSC and STTC), the Tourism Sector Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Management Sub-Committee is being established to rationalize membership and establish a Sub-Committee of the STTC that focuses specifically on issues and challenges pertaining to CCA and DRM. This is in keeping with the Enhanced CDM strategy 2010-2012.

PAHO has established the Caribbean 1 Health Disaster Risk Reduction (CHDRR) Committee. This approach is in keeping with the tremendous effort afoot in the Caribbean to harmonize and mainstream comprehensive disaster management (CDM).

The CHDRR Committee comprise representatives from key specialized health sector agencies and technical representatives (HDCs) from the Ministries of Health in the Caribbean. The CSSSC is chaired by the Sector Lead for the Civil Society Sector, the Caribbean Policy Development Centre (CPDC). The CSSSC also has a co-chair, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). The Sector Lead and Co-Chair are supported by the members of the Sector Sub-Committee to facilitate a wider inclusion of relevant stakeholders in the CDM planning and implementation process at the sectoral level.
