Lidra Remacka, regional consultant on Education in Emergencies for UNICEF shares key messaging on the importance of a participatory approach that includes children in the policy development process. She delivered remarks at the training on the Model Safe School Programme Toolkit and National Safe School Policy Consultation.
The training and consultation were attended by staleholders from the Education Sector, and other sectors such as planning and health, as well as representives from partner agencies such as UNICEF, CREAD, and IsraAID. The training and policy consultation will also take place in Antigua and Barbuda, St Kitts and Nevis and St Lucia during September 24-October 3, 2019.
The implementation of the Model Safe School Programme is being implemented by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency, to motivate governments to adopt and implement school safety in accordance with the Caribbean Road Map for School Safety. The project is funded by the Caribbean Development Bank under the Intra ACP EU Natural Disaster Risk Management Programme.
