CDEMA hosts Geographical Information Systems Training for its Participating States

Bridgetown, Barbados June 9, 2022– The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) successfully hosted an online training for its Participating States between 9th May 2022 and 3rd June 2022 in Geographical Information Systems (GIS) for Disaster Risk Management (DRM) in the Caribbean region. The online training consisted of six (6) self-paced training modules, culminating in two (2) days dedicated to a simulation exercise where the participants were tested on the knowledge gained in a controlled scenario under time constrained conditions.

CDEMA hosts the Damage Assessment & Needs Analysis (DANA) Orientation/Training in St. Vincent and the Grenadines

Bridgetown, Barbados February 17, 2022 - The Preparedness and Response Division (PRD) of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), through its Regional Training Centre (RTC), commenced a three-day Damage and Needs Assessment (DANA) Orientation/Training workshop for the St. Vincent & The Grenadines National Emergency Management Organisation (SVG NEMO) on February 15th, 2022. The training is intended to present a systematic approach for conducting damage assessment in an effective and time sensitive manner to influence response and recovery actions in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Bridgetown, Barbados July 30, 2021– The CDEMA Coordinating Unit recently hosted the 12th Meeting of the Comprehensive Disaster Management Coordination and Harmonization Council (CDM CHC), funded by the Targeted Support to CDEMA Project. Nine regional institutions, seven development partners and representatives for two sub regional focal points came together virtually to further the CDM/Resilience conversation in the Caribbean.

Bridgetown, Barbados March 22, 2022 - The Preparedness and Response Division (PRD) of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) recently hosted a series of virtual Tabletop National Level Exercises (NLEs) focused on enhancing capacity at the national level to manage disaster events. Emergency Personnel from the 20 CDEMA Participating States (PSs) benefitted from scenarios and discussions on shelter management, logistics, communications, health and GIS capacity.
