Bridgetown, Barbados, February 4, 2013 (CDEMA) - The Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) is saddened at the passing of Mr. Timothy James on Friday February 1st, 2013 and extends deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Mr. James, a strong advocate of national preparedness for emergencies, was the first Director of the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) in Saint Lucia. He will be remembered for his pioneering work and leadership in disaster management not only on the national stage but in the region as well. As a media practitioner, the CDEMA system benefitted from his tremendous experience and wisdom in our communications policy and programme. His dedication and commitment will not be forgotten.

Cabaret, Haiti, October 23, 2012 – (CDEMA) - A week long Community Emergency Response Team training got underway today in Cabaret, Haiti with great enthusiasm. The thirty (30) participants present represent five zones of the community and will be assigned to teams of 6 according to their zones. It is expected that at the end of training the individuals will work together in their team to respond to incidents in their zones.
