No other CDEMA Participating States are threatened at this time.

Elsa upgraded around 7:45 am (AST) on Friday July 2, 2021. Elsa impacted Barbados with maximum sustained winds near 75 mph, with higher gusts. Elsa continued its path
west-northwest near 28 mph (44 km/h) and passed near or over portions of the Windward Islands or the southern Leeward Islands. Elsa moved across the eastern Caribbean Sea on July 2, and on its present track, TS Elsa will move across the southern Hispaniola and Jamaica today into Sunday. Cayman Islands and Cuba may experience heavy rains on Sunday and into Monday.

At 500 PM the center of Hurricane Elsa was located near latitude 14.2 North, longitude 63.7 West. Elsa is moving toward the west near 30 mph (48 km/h), and this motion is expected to continue through Saturday (July 3). A west-northwestward motion with a decrease in forward speed is expected Saturday night and Sunday (July 4), followed by a turn toward the northwest Sunday night or Monday (July 5). On the forecast track, Elsa will move across the eastern Caribbean Sea on July 2 and move near the southern coast of Hispaniola late Saturday or Saturday night. By Sunday, Elsa is forecast to move near Jamaica and portions of eastern Cuba, and move near portions of central and western
Cuba Sunday night and Monday.

Bridgetown, Barbados June 24, 2021– CDEMA has officially deployed five Detailed Damage Sectoral Assessment (DDSA) teams to Guyana on June 23, 2021 to report on sectors affected by escalated flooding. The Civil Defence Commission (CDC) called on CDEMA to prepare a damage and loss estimate report which will be compiled after teams assess the key Regions 2 (Pomeroon-Supenaam), 5 (Mahaica-Berbice), 6 (East Berbice-Corentyne), 7 (Cuyumi-Mazaruni) and 10 (Upper Demerara-Upper Berbice).

LEVEL 2 EMERGENCY RESPONSE EVENT
- A Tropical Wave embedded within the ITCZ affected Guyana resulting in heavy rainfall during the month of May into June. Over the past two days, the Civil Defence Commission (CDC) has continued to receive reports of flooding across the country. Through the powers conferred upon the Head of State by Article 99 of the Constitution, the President, His Excellency Mohammed Irfaan Ali declared a disaster in the Co-operative Republic of Guyana by virtue of flooding on June 9, 2021. This proclamation was published in the Official Gazette on June 10, 2021.

Barbados, June 18, 2021 (CDEMA) – The Chairman of the Council of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), the Honorable Vincent Byron Jr, Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs, St Kitts-Nevis, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Elizabeth Riley as Executive Director of the Agency with effect from July 1, 2021.
