Bridgetown, Barbados, March 6, 2014 (CDEMA) – The CDEMA System now has a pool of certified Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) personnel to boost measurement and reporting on the delivery of the Comprehensive Disaster Management Strategy in the region. The cohort was recently awarded the Masters Certificate Programme in Results-Based Monitoring & Evaluation and Information Systems from the Institute for Development in Economics and Administration (IDEA) through the Canadian based Laval University.

Bridgetown, Barbados, February 18th, 2014 (CDEMA) – Several of the CDEMA Participating States reportedly felt the earthquake which occurred today, Tuesday 18th February at 5:27am local time. The Seismic Research Centre at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, Trinidad stated that the earthquake occurred east of Martinique and was located at 14.78°N and 59.03°W. The magnitude was 6.5 and depth 40km. The tremor was felt across Barbados, Dominica, St. Vincent, Saint Lucia, Grenada, and Trinidad. No tsunami warnings were issued for the Caribbean.

Bridgetown, Barbados, February 10th, 2014 (CDEMA) - The Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic (SJPP) will be offering a safer building course to workers in the building trade from this month (February 2014). This course is an adaptation of the Regional Code of Practice for the Construction of Houses Course which was developed by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) in collaboration with the CARICOM Regional Organisation for Standards and Quality (CROSQ).
