ST. GEORGE’S, GRENADA, November 28, 2014 – (GIS, CDEMA)- “Exploring Response and Recovery, Embracing Resilience” is the theme of a Symposium to be held in Grenada from December 1-3, 2014 to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of Hurricane Ivan. The event will be hosted by the Government of Grenada through the National Disaster Management Agency (NaDMA) in collaboration with CDEMA and other partners.

Bridgetown, Barbados, October 31, 2014 (CDEMA) - Disaster Management in the Caribbean region is getting a boost with a 20 million euro grant from the European Union. The funding has been secured under the ACP-EU CARIFORUM Natural Disaster Risk Management Programme, which will be implemented over a five year period (2014-2019) by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), the Caribbean Development Bank and the Dominican Republic. It is expected to support the strengthening of National Disaster Offices and CDEMA in the implementation of the 2014-2024 Comprehensive Disaster Management Strategy.

Bridgetown, Barbados, October 21, 2014 (CDEMA) - The first of two consultations organized by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) Coordinating Unit to review emergency operations of the December 2013 rains will be hosted by St Vincent and the Grenadines on October 23, 2014 at the National Emergency Management Office. Severe rains and high winds due to a Low Level Trough System impacted three of the CDEMA Participating States, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Lucia and Dominica from Monday 23rd to Wed 25th December, 2013 resulting in loss of life and significant damage to housing and infrastructure.
