Day Two of CANTO's 34th AGM Forged Ahead With the Caribbean Disaster Management Forum at the Helm

Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago, February 5th, 2018 (CDEMA) – Trends in technology, media and communications; Staying connected during a disaster; and Cloud technology were some of the titles of the sessions on day two of CANTO's 34th Annual General Meeting.

The technology trend segment highlighted digitalization as a way of life and focused on Fibre to the Home (FTTH) as the way forward. Fixed wireless was also listed as a cost effective alternative.

The Latin American and Caribbean Seismological Commission (LACSC) and the Seismological Society of America (SSA) will be hosting the Seismology of the Americas Conference in Miami, Florida on 14–17 May 2018.

There are over 50 technical sessions covering earthquake and tsunami topics. You are encouraged to submit an abstract to the Emergency Management Session or other through the Conference Website https://seismology2018.org/seismology-of-the-americas/

The deadline for the submission of abstracts is Wednesday, January 24, 2018.

The European Union reaffirms its support for disaster preparedness in the Caribbean during the Caribbean Conference on Comprehensive Disaster Management

Nassau, Bahamas, December 9th, 2017 – More than 2 million € will be invested to strengthen disaster risk reduction and early warning systems through the exchange of good practices and building of capacities of the Caribbean countries to better be prepared to face destructive events in the future.
